The Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition is planning to do a ride on
Sunday,
July 21st to explore the Vancouver/Richmond cycling connections as
they
have been affected by the construction of the new Airport Connector
bridge. The immediate focus is to evaluate the benefits of an
article
in the next edition of the VACC's newsletter to draw attention to
the
situation.

I am not writing the article, but would like to contribute to this
investigation by leading a ride from the 70th and Granville area to
Richmond and back via the pre-bridge construction route and then
doing
the same loop on what is shaping up to be the Airport Authority's
"non-arterial" alternative routes.

The ride has been precipitated by a number of complaints about
cycling
conditions on Sea Island and the disinterest on the part of the
Airport
Authority in responding to these concerns in any constructive
manner.

If you would like to help review these cycling connections and, more
importantly, contribute to a process for improving their safety,
please
e-mail me off-list and I will send you an itinerary.

Please extend this invitation to anyone who may be affected by
changes
to this area or who would be able to contribute ideas to improve
its
safety.
