July 2021 Action Update

For members of HUB Cycling's Local Committees
Launch of Cycling Equity and Older Buildings Research Project
HUB Cycling is excited to be ramping up our new 10-month Cycling Equity and Older Buildings research project! It will be a practical analysis of the impacts of the design of older buildings from different eras on accessibility to cycling for people living and working in Metro Vancouver.

The Building Owners and Managers Association of BC, Atira Building Management, TransLink, Vancouver Coastal Health, and the City of Vancouver have all committed to collaborating on this HUB project.

Project funders and in-kind contributors include the QuadReal Property Group, Concert Properties, Urban Racks, Bunt Engineering, the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, HMCA Architects, and the Real Estate Foundation of BC. This project will build on HUB Cycling's growing research accomplishments.
Save the Date: Fall All Committee Workshop

AGM Videos Due - August 2nd
The HUB Cycling AGM will be held virtually on September 16th. RSVP Here. To that effect, we are asking each local committee to submit a video, no longer than 2 minutes, giving an update on the work you have been doing. The committee updates are a highlight for the AGM helps show the diversity of voices, leadership, and geographies that we represent.

Here are some tips for recording your script from home and for submitting your video: *Film in landscape mode (i.e. if you're using your phone, turn it on its side) *Record in a quiet room with minimal background noise, i.e. remove any fans or choose a room away from traffic noise  *Background should be a blank wall. *Avoid striped tops as they can look strange on video. Go with a solid colour. *Set the camera up at eye level so you're looking directly into it (avoid it looking up your nose). *You can use your phone, your computer webcam, or a camera. *Make sure you are recording in 1080p. *Try to set up even lighting around your face so there's not a beam of light on your forehead. Setting yourself up in front of a window will provide good lighting. *If not using a microphone, turn the volume down on your laptop. If you're using a microphone then no need to do this. *If you stumble on your words, it’s okay! You can give it another shot. *Preferred file formats are .mp4 or .mov..

File Submission Instructions: Once you have recorded your script, please submit the files to cathy@... using WeTransfer. Go to https://wetransfer.com/. Click “Add your files.” Upload your video. Email to cathy@..., then type in your email address.
